Gregor Unterkofler

Gregor Unterkofler is a Salzburg-based keyboard player and pedagogue whose work combines performance on organ, piano and harpsichord with extensive teaching activities. He has taught at several leading institutions and has been active as an accompanist and collaborative pianist at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2026.

Gregor Unterkofler studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and at the Paris Lodron University Salzburg, completing degrees in classroom teaching (music education, instrumental music education and philosophy/psychology) as well as in vocal pedagogy.

He continued his studies in organ performance at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with teachers including Daniel Chorzempa, and at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig with Thomaskantor organist Ullrich Böhme. He also studied harpsichord at the Tyrolean State Conservatory (Landeskonservatorium Tirol) with Peter Waldner and further developed his expertise in historical performance practice and historical keyboard instruments through additional specialised studies.

Gregor Unterkofler is an experienced pedagogue and has held teaching positions at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig, the Mozarteum University Salzburg, the Salzburg University of Education (Pädagogische Hochschule Salzburg) and the Musisches Realgymnasium Salzburg. He is also active as a director of masterclasses.

Alongside his teaching, he performs as an organist, pianist and harpsichordist in both liturgical and chamber music settings, and has made CD and radio recordings.

Since 2026, he has been active as an accompanist and collaborative pianist at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
