Katharina Teufel-Lieli has been principal harpist of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Salzburg Chamber Philharmonic since 1996. She performs internationally as a soloist and chamber musician and appears regularly with ensembles including Klangforum Wien and the Volksoper Wien. She has taught harp at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2009.
Katharina Teufel-Lieli studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg and appeared as a substitute with the Bruckner Orchestra at the age of 17. She completed her performance studies in 1995 with Edward Witsenburg and subsequently undertook postgraduate studies in Würzburg with Giselle Herbert.
She performs regularly as a guest musician with leading orchestras and ensembles, including Klangforum Wien, Volksoper Wien and the Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. Since 1996 she has been principal harpist of the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Salzburg Chamber Philharmonic.
As a soloist she has appeared with orchestra in Austria, Germany, the Czech Republic, Italy, Japan and Switzerland. She is a soloist with the Salzburg Fortress Concerts and a member of the œnm – österreichisches ensemble für neue musik.
