Florentine Klepper is a stage director who has worked at numerous leading German-speaking opera houses and theatres since 2004. Since 2024, she has been Professor of Opera Stagecraft at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
Florentine Klepper studied theatre and opera directing in Zurich and Munich. Since 2004, she has worked as a director at renowned German-speaking theatres and opera houses including Staatstheater Kassel, Staatstheater Braunschweig, Oper Frankfurt, Bühnen Bern, Staatsoper Stuttgart, Oper Graz, Theater Freiburg, the Salzburg Easter Festival and the Semperoper Dresden.
From 2009 to 2011, she was resident director at Theater Basel and also worked at the Stuttgart and Karlsruhe State Theatres as well as the Deutsches Schauspielhaus Hamburg. In 2018, she made her debut in France at the Opéra de Dijon.
Her artistic interests encompass both the classical operatic repertoire and contemporary works. She has directed productions at festivals including aDevantgarde, Festspiel Plus and the Munich Biennale, and has staged world premieres of works by composers such as Moritz Eggert, Jörg Widmann, Arnulf Herrmann and Felix Leuschner.
Since 2024, Florentine Klepper has been Professor of Opera Stagecraft at the Mozarteum University Salzburg.
