Chariklia Apostolu is a pianist, répétiteur, and conductor whose work spans piano performance, Lied accompaniment, historical performance practice, and conducting. She has been closely associated with the Mozarteum University Salzburg for more than three decades, both as an accompanist and teacher.
Chariklia Apostolu studied piano performance and piano pedagogy with Thalia Mira at the Athens Conservatory, graduating with distinction. She subsequently continued her studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, specialising in piano performance with Aloys Kontarsky, Lied accompaniment with Werner Hollweg, Hartmut Höll and Mitsuko Shirai, and fortepiano with Anthony Spiri.
She also received private instruction in harpsichord, basso continuo, and historical performance practice from Rolf Basten, and studied conducting with August Haltmayer. At the Anton Bruckner Private University, she completed further studies in choral conducting with Kurt Dlouhy and orchestral conducting with Ingo Ingensand, graduating with distinction in both disciplines.
In 1995, she worked for one year as a répétiteur in courses led by Robert Holl and Thomas Hampson. From 1995 to 2000, she was employed as an accompanist at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, and since 2000 has been a répétiteur in the MA Opera programme. Since 1994, she has also worked as a répétiteur at the university’s International Summer Academy in Salzburg, where she has additionally taught recitative classes since 2007.
Since 2012, Chariklia Apostolu has taught conducting at the Joseph Haydn Conservatory.
