Elisabeth Winter

Elisabeth Winter teaches at Mozarteum University’s Innsbruck campus and has led the horn class at the Tyrolean State Conservatory in Innsbruck since 2023. She has taught horn and instrumental pedagogy since 2003 and is a lecturer at the Woodstock Academy and the International Horn Days Telfs.

Elisabeth Winter (b. 1983 in Kitzbühel) studied instrumental pedagogy (horn) in Innsbruck with Hansjörg Angerer and Marco Treyer before switching to the Viennese horn in 2003. She went on to study horn performance, with a focus on music physiology, at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, alongside a master's degree in instrumental pedagogy with Roland Berger and Thomas Jöbstl. She completed both programmes with distinction in 2009.

A finalist in the 2003 Gradus ad Parnassum competition and a multiple first-prize winner at the national Prima la Musica competition, Winter was a member of the European Union Youth Orchestra from 2004 to 2006. She joined the Klagenfurt Symphony Orchestra in 2007 and was second horn of the Vienna Volksoper Orchestra from 2008 to 2023.

As a guest musician, she has performed with ensembles including the Vienna Philharmonic, Kammerphilharmonie Wien, Akademie für Alte Musik Berlin, NDR Elbphilharmonieorchester Hamburg, Tiroler Festspiele Erl, Haydn Orchester Bozen and Tiroler Symphonieorchester Innsbruck. She is also a member of the brass quintet Brass Soloists.
