Dorothea Charlotte Seel

Lektorin of 19th century performance practice & historical flutes.Department Music Education Innsbruck

As a specialist for 18th and 19th century flutes, Dorothea Seel played in leading original sound ensembles such as The English Concert, Orchestra of the age of enlightment, Concerto Köln and Concentus Musicus Wien. She is the artistic director of the Baroque Soloists Munich and deals with instruments and questions of sound aesthetics both scientifically and practically. 

Since 2018 she has been working at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz, where she also received her doctorate in 2017. For her dissertation Der Diskurs um den Klang der Flöte im 19. Jahrhundert (The Discourse on the Sound of the Flute in the 19th Century) she received the Austrian State Prize "Award of Excellence" from the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research. She has been teaching at the Mozarteum University in Innsbruck since 2016.
