Pavel Gililov

Pavel Gililov first performed with orchestra at the age of eight. His extraordinary musical talent was discovered by Dimitri Kabalevsky, on whose recommendation he began his studies in St. Petersburg. In 1972 he won the National Piano Competition in Moscow. He won prizes at the International Chopin Competition in Warsaw in 1975 and at the International Viotti Piano Competition in Vercelli in 1978. In the same year Gililov emigrated to the West and has since continued his concert activities with leading orchestras in the most important cultural capitals of the world.  Pavel Gililov is a welcome guest at important music festivals such as the Salzburg Festival, the Schleswig-Holstein Music Festival, the Edinburgh Music Festival and others. Since 1997 he has been Artistic Director of the "Sommerclassics", a music festival in Rhineland-Palatinate.  At the Cologne University of Music Pavel Gililov leads a master class for piano, as well as at the Mozarteum University. He organizes numerous master classes in Europe and the Far East.
