Ingrid Schreyer
Ingrid Schreyer is a visual artist and lecturer in painting at Mozarteum University Salzburg. In both her artistic practice and her teaching, she is committed to making the fragile beauty of sensitive ecosystems visible through close observation and careful attention to detail.
Ingrid Schreyer trained as a teacher of visual arts and psychology/philosophy in Salzburg before teaching in schools in Graz. Since 1999, she has been a member of the Department of Fine Arts and Design at Mozarteum University Salzburg.
Working primarily in painting and drawing, Schreyer explores experiences and observations gathered in rural landscapes. Several summers spent working with livestock on Alpine pastures have had a lasting influence on her artistic practice. Her research is rooted in direct engagement with the natural world, unfolding through sustained observation in fields, green spaces, mountain landscapes and along the edges of paths.
Alongside her teaching and artistic work, Schreyer contributes to university self-governance in a range of roles, including as spokesperson for the mid-level faculty. She also curates the Kunstwerk gallery at the Department of Fine Arts and Design and serves on the board of Gallery 5020, fostering exchange between students and artists from the regional and national contemporary art scene.
