Beate Seckauer

Senior Artist in the field of Ceramics / DTT EducationDepartment of Fine Arts & Design

Born in Steyr in 1964, Beate Seckauer studied ceramics at the University of Artistic and Industrial Design Linz (now the University of Art and Design Linz).

From 1990 to 2002, she managed production for the Vienna Collection in Schrems, Lower Austria. During this period, she developed numerous designs for the Vienna Collection porcelain manufactory and contributed to large-scale ceramic projects, including façades, sound barriers and children's playgrounds. In 1992, she became a founding member of I.DE.A Designcenter GmbH in Schrems, where she also organised exhibitions and workshops for children and young people.

In 2002, she established her own porcelain manufactory and ceramics studio in Neuzeug, followed by the founding of Neuzeughammer Keramik GmbH in 2009 and NEU/ZEUG Design OG in 2017 in collaboration with the design studio Lucy.D, Karin Santorso and Barbara Ambrosz.

Alongside her entrepreneurial and design activities, Seckauer has participated in numerous exhibitions and art fairs, including a solo exhibition at the Kulturquartier Linz in 2017. Her work encompasses projects in public space, façade design, product development and heritage reconstruction, ranging from the redesign of Ortsplatz Sierninghofen/Neuzeug and façade projects in collaboration with Michael Schröckenfuchs to the development of the Xiles – Exciting Tiles series, porcelain and bone-china lighting, the reconstruction of historic tiles for the Cabaret Fledermaus, and the design of tableware collections.
