Gerhard Andraschko-Sorgo

Gerhard Andraschko-Sorgo operates at the intersection of design practice, research and education. His work explores how visual identities create cultural meaning, combining strategic brand development with a longstanding interest in the semiotic and social dimensions of communication.
 

Gerhard Andraschko-Sorgo is a designer, brand consultant and university lecturer. He founded the communication design studio Linie 3, which was elected to the European Design Leaders network in 2012. His work has received numerous international awards and distinctions.

His research focuses on the semiotic and cultural significance of brands, examining how iconic brands function as cultural ambassadors and shape collective identities.

Over the course of his career, he has developed visual identities for institutions and companies including Salzburg University of Applied Sciences, the Mozarteum Foundation Salzburg, B&R Industrial Automation, Mood Vienna and W&H Dentalwerk.

Since 2002, he has collaborated with Galerie Thaddaeus Ropac, contributing to its visual identity and publishing programme. He has designed exhibition catalogues and publications for internationally renowned artists including Georg Baselitz, Tony Cragg, Antony Gormley, Lori Hersberger, Alex Katz, Anselm Kiefer, Roy Lichtenstein and Banks Violette.
