  • Professor at the University Mozarteum (since 1991); Composition lessons at the church music school of the Archdiocese of Salzburg (1977-1980); Lectureships in Trossingen, Weikersheim, Braunschweig (1985 to 1989); Lecturer, then Professor of Music Theory and Composition at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg (1982 to 1991)

Functions at the Mozarteum University

  • Director of Studies – Monocratic organ according to § 13 UG 2002 (2004 to 2012); Member of the University Senate (since 2003); Initiator and leader of the curricula working group (2002 to 2006); Chairman of the Curriculum Committee for Composition and Conducting (1995 to 2002), member of various collegial and advisory bodies; Chairman of admission and diploma examinations in composition (1997 to 2002); Member of all examination boards in composition and conducting (since 1991)

Extensive musical projects

  • Incidental music for the history play "Silent Night" (2010 - 2018); Children's musical "Coole Planeten" (2002) and "Eine Gans im Theater" (1998) with Sabine Zaunschirm
  • CD "Macht euch bereit!" (1996) (more than 3000 copies sold)
  • His best known works at the song books: "Macht euch bereit!" and "Freuet euch! Weihnachtslieder". Since 2014 over 300 special arrangements of Christmas carols for instrument + piano, 2, 3 and 4 instruments for flute(s), clarinet(s), saxophone(s), trumpet(s), horns, trombone(s); Violins (2019)
  • Compositions and arrangements of classical works for organ and for organ and horn ensemble.

Voluntary work

Member of professional and habilitation procedures in Austria (since 2004); juror at various music and composition competitions; Chairman of the Salzburg Folk Song Association (1995 to 1999). Also on the supervisory board of Aaron Hotels and Hostels Holding AG.

Graduates

More than 30 former students teach music theory or are professors at universities in Bremen, Lübeck, Hamburg, Detmold, Essen, Heidelberg, Munich and Duisburg. The most successful graduates Sang-Jick Jun and Uzong Choe work as Professors of Composition and music theory at the Seoul National University in South Korea, Jan Müller-Wieland as Professor of Composition at the Musikhochschule in Munich.
