There was a lot of discussion, ideas were developed and new networks were formed: the Spot On MozART Workshop Days 2022 took place on May 6 and 7 at the Zistelalm on the Gaisberg and were dedicated to the topics of innovation, visualization, research and the Spot On Moment based on Mozart's music. The management of the Mozarteum University has succeeded in acquiring an endowed professorship for the first time. This is an entirely externally financed university professorship in violin awarded to an internationally outstanding artistic personality. Maxim Vengerov, one of the world's most celebrated violinists, is coming to Salzburg to work at the Mozarteum University for three years from the beginning of the winter semester 2019/20. The public is invited to experience his masterclasses on October 14, 2019 in the Solitär and on December 9, 2019 in the Great Hall of the Mozarteum Foundation.

The publication "Auf dem Weg zur Kunstuniversität: das Kunsthochschul-Organisationsgesetz von 1970" ("On the Way to the Art University: the Art University Organization Act of 1970"), which appeared in August, documents for the first time comprehensively the historical course of the development of higher education in Austria's art universities.

On 8 May 2025, we will commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War. Today more than ever, it is imperative that we keep alive the memory of what happened 80 years ago and strive to preserve peace and democracy. The Mozarteum University will be holding a series of (commemorative) events throughout the year of remembrance, which will look back at the beginnings of the Second Republic and explore how this period still shapes events today.

The weekend around 1 May at the University was marked by an extraordinary musical bridge-building between Salzburg and Dresden: with a cappella singing and choral symphonies, "night" and "sea", word and sound, the Dresden University Choir and the choirs of the Mozarteum University combined to create a multi-layered, dazzling spectrum of sound.

Anna Barbara Kastelewicz, a graduate of the Department of Musicology at the Mozarteum University, was recently honoured with the Award of Excellence for her dissertation on "Music, culture and cultural activities in the special camps of the Soviet occupying power 1945 - 1950 in the Soviet Occupation Zone and the GDR".
