Our students Vivi Vassileva and Richard Putz are the winners of this year's Prix Iannis Xenakis. The prize, established by the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival in cooperation with the percussion class on the initiative of Martin Grubinger, promotes young percussion soloists and is intended to pave the way to the major concert halls and international music festivals. The participants had to conceive an extensive solo recital concert and present it in front of a 6-person jury.

Students from all majors can apply for the 14th Sustainability Challenge by September 25th. The Sustainability Challenge is an interdisciplinary elective course with a focus on sustainability, SDGs & climate protection. Since the beginning of the year, the project "Practicing Care" has been focusing on the transnational social responsibility of a university of the arts with a variety of activities. Exemplary for these activities is the awarding of an honorary professorship by the Senate of the Mozarteum University to the Belarusian flautist, pedagogue and civil rights activist Maria Kalesnikava, who was sentenced to 11 years of penal colony in her home country. Dorothee Oberlinger and Olga Shparaga, among others, will participate in the program of the ceremony on October 30.

The Ö1 Composition Prize 2025, endowed with 10,000 euros, goes to the young composer Christiaan Willemse. He is studying composition in the postgraduate programme with Johannes Maria Staud at the Mozarteum University and impressed the jury with his personal and technically advanced works and compositional flair - congratulations!
