About us … Home About us Electronic Administrative Signature Administrative signature General Informationen on the Administrative Signature of the Mozarteum University SalzburgThe administrative signature is the legally valid electronic signature of an authority, which is used to show that assessments and decisions have been authorised. Thus the recipient is assured that the document in question has been issued by the official body named in the letter. The official signature is represented by the picture mark of the authoriy (in a similar way to an official seal) as well as notice that the document has been signed using an administrative signature. This makes clear that the document was produced by the authority in question. The authority must give notice of a cross-check mechanism for verifying the signature and provide a service for verifying printouts. Representation of the Administrative Signature More The administrative signature can be verified under the following link: www.signaturpruefung.gv.atVerifying a printout of a document signed with the administrative signatureThe printout of the document can be verified using the contact details of the issuing authority as given in the letterhead. About us … Home About us Platform on Politics of the Past Platform on Politics of the Past Skip page navigation Overview Return to slider start The Platform on Politics of the Past is a forum for discussing questions relating to the historical political positioning and decisions of the Mozarteum University. The critical assessment of these issues may take the form of scholarly review (e.g. of biographies) but can equally be expressed through artistic projects that raise public awareness in the spirit of “Never Forget.” The Platform was founded in response to an artistic intervention by students of the Thomas Bernhard Institute in April 2024, in which a number of names on the Honorary Members board in the foyer of the Mozarteum University were crossed out with red paint and a petition was lodged calling for their honours to be revoked. Contactgeschichtspolitiken@moz.ac.at Statement from the Rectorate & Senate In the years between 1960 and 1980, certain honours were awarded by the Mozarteum University Salzburg which, in hindsight, are highly problematic. These relate to people whose possible involvement in Austrian Fascism or Nazi (cultural) politics was not critically examined.  To honour someone with an award is also to create a contemporary document. Such awards always reflect the positions, politics and networks of those who bestow them. Through neglecting to critically question the honours that were awarded between the 1960s and 1980s until very recently, the Mozarteum University Salzburg failed to actively combat the forgetting and suppression of historical events. The position of the senate and rectorate is that the past behaviour of the university and its office-holders, which cannot be considered in isolation from the honours which were awarded to problematic individuals, should be researched, dealt with and explained. In this way, the Mozarteum University Salzburg has chosen to acknowledge and account for its past. At the same time, the Mozarteum University Salzburg is keen to avoid focusing on the perpetrators. Instead, the university has initiated and advanced a comprehensive process of accountability and acknowledgement of the victims of tyranny and those harmed by the organs and members of the Mozarteum. 13th January 2025 News Mozarteum stories: documents and memories wanted 10.3.2026 Mozarteum stories: documents and memories wanted  The Platform for Historical Politics at the Mozarteum University Salzburg invites participation in the academic examination of the university's political past, particularly during the periods of Austrofascism, National Socialism and the post-war era. News … Home News Practicing Care: Solidarity Network of an Arts University Practicing Care: Solidarity Network of an Arts University 21.06.2022 Press release © Living Pictures Production Since the summer semester of 2022, "Practicing Care" has also been the title of a long-term project at the Mozarteum University that focuses on the transnational social responsibility of an art university. The numerous new forms of protest and decentralized care networks that found expression in the activities of the Belarusian opposition in 2020, led primarily by women, were the inspiration for the design of the project format. The willingness to help Ukraine since the beginning of the Russian invasion on February 24 has impressively shown how much people can care and look after others, unknown and foreign people, even outside their immediate family and friendly environment. To Care has once again become the epitome of a humanity that can go far beyond personal and national boundaries. At the heart of 2022 is the awarding of an honorary professorship to one of the leading figures of the Belarusian opposition: to the flautist and educator Maria Kalesnikava - because of her courageous and encouraging commitment against arbitrary state power, torture, oppression and the violation of elementary human rights by an authoritarian regime, she was recently awarded the International Charlemagne Prize of Aachen 2022 together with her fellow campaigners Svetlana Tikhanovskaya and Veronica Tsepkalo. Born in Minsk on April 24, 1982, Kalesnikava studied flute and conducting at the State Academy of Music in Minsk, then early and contemporary music at the Stuttgart University of Music and Performing Arts. She played in various ensembles, taught music in Belarus and Germany, worked on numerous transnational music projects, and in 2019 became artistic director of the cultural center "OK-16" in Minsk. In opposition to Lukashenko's regime, the musician and educator decided to temporarily exchange her flute for a megaphone and campaign for free elections and women's rights in Belarus: In an infamous criminal case, she was sentenced to eleven years of penal colony on September 6, 2021. "To remember hundreds of political prisoners in Belarus, but also in Russia and worldwide, to remind ourselves as teachers and students at an art university that art and politics, personal and social freedom and resistance to their oppression can never be treated as separate issues, the Senate of the Mozarteum University awarded Maria Kalesnikava an honorary professorship on March 11, 2022" , explains the Senate Chairman and Professor of Dramaturgy  Christoph Lepschy.
