Lily Francis is an internationally active violinist and violist, prizewinner of the ARD Competition and Professor of Violin at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. She performs regularly on Europe’s major stages and is a sought-after chamber musician and soloist.

Violinist and violist Lily Francis is internationally active as a soloist and chamber musician. A prizewinner of the 2009 ARD Competition in Munich, she has performed with some of Germany’s leading orchestras, including the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Munich Chamber Orchestra and the Munich Radio Orchestra. She made her solo debut at Carnegie Hall in 2008 and was a regular guest of the world-renowned Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York.

In recent years, she performed across Europe, including in the Elbphilharmonie, the Concertgebouw, at the Casals Festival in Spain and the Heidelberger Frühling in Germany. She collaborates regularly with the Caerus Ensemble, Trio Gaspard and the Gringolts Quartet, and has been invited to festivals such as Lockenhaus, Marlboro, Kronberg and IMS Prussia Cove. She has worked with some of the most distinguished musicians of our time, including András Schiff, Gidon Kremer, Kim Kashkashian and Mitsuko Uchida.

She has been Professor of Violin at the Mozarteum University Salzburg since 2017. When not on stage or in the classroom, she also tends to a small farm – sharing her days with chickens, sheep and four children.
