She completed her concert-level double bass studies with Prof. Christine Hoock at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg, earning her master’s degree in 2021. She then studied the violone with Prof. Vittorio Ghielmi, focusing in depth on early music, the violone, and Viennese tuning.
From 2018 to 2020, she was an apprentice with the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra / Deutsche Oper am Rhein, where she gained extensive orchestral experience and insights into the opera repertoire. Additional concert engagements have taken her to the Tyrolean Symphony Orchestra Innsbruck, the Salzburg Philharmonic, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, the Bad Reichenhall Philharmonic, the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie, and the Theresia Orchestra, as well as to various chamber music series.
Since 2018, she has been performing with the BachWerkVokal Salzburg ensemble under the direction of Gordon Safari. As a double bassist, her collaboration with the ensemble is a key focus of her artistic work. She performs regularly with BachWerkVokal both in Austria and abroad and has contributed to several of the ensemble’s CD recordings.
Since 2022, Theresa Schilling has been teaching double bass at various music schools, and since 2025 at the Vöcklabruck State Music School. She teaches students of all ages and skill levels—from five-year-old beginners on the mini-bass to adults over 80 years old. In addition, she serves as an instructor for various courses. Her students have won multiple awards at the “prima la musica” and “Jugend musiziert” competitions.
