Reinhard Blum

Lecturer for piano practiceDepartment of Music Education Innsbruck
Reinhard Blum has been a lecturer for piano practice at the Department of Music Education in Innsbruck since 1997. In research and teaching, he focuses on instrumental didactics, piano methodology and educational issues in the field of practical piano playing in schools. In 2019, his project  "voice & piano" - Artistic Music Pedagogical Personality Development and Practical Piano Playing in Schools, developed in collaboration with Christian Kraler, was awarded the  Ars Docendi Recognition Prize.

Reinhard Blum studied music education/instrumental music education, instrumental/vocal pedagogy as well as piano and piano chamber music with Alfons Kontarsky at the Mozarteum University. In addition to solo and chamber music activities, composition and arrangement, he is interested in the reception and communication of film music. As chairman of the curricular commission for music education and instrumental music education, he has helped to shape several curricular transformation processes, including the introduction of the BA-MA teacher training course in the teacher training network West in 2015 as part of the NEW teacher training program. From 2011 to 2022 he was deputy head of the Department for Music Education in Innsbruck and is a member of the Senate of the Mozarteum University.

In 2019, the project developed in cooperation with Christian Kraler (University of Innsbruck) "voice & piano" - artistic-music-pedagogical personality development and school-practical piano playing awarded the "Ars Docendi" recognition prize in the category "research-related or art-led teaching".
