Francois-Pierre Descamps
from 1996-1997 Francois-Pierre Descamps was Kapellmeister with the Vienna Boys' Choir, and since 1999 he has been a contract teacher of choral and ensemble conducting at the University Mozarteum in Innsbruck. From 2002-2009 he was répétiteur at the Opera School for Children of the Vienna State Opera, and since 2000 he has directed the choirs of two Catholic churches in Vienna, Mariahilf and Maria Treu, with which he has performed the entire repertoire of the orchestral masses of the Viennese Classical period as well as others (Schumann, Dvorak, Fauré, Duruflé) and numerous a cappella works.
Francois-Pierre Descamps began his musical education at the conservatory in Lille / France. He studied at the Paris Conservatory (diploma with distinction in cello), at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris (5 diplomas in solfège spécialisé, harmony, counterpoint, fugue and orchestration) and at the École Normale de Musique de Paris (conducting). . In 1989 he went to Vienna to study at the University of Music and Performing Arts (concert subject diplomas in orchestral conducting with distinction and choral conducting).
As a cellist he played with many ensembles and chamber orchestras, as a conductor he led the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler, the Ensemble Phace, the Camerata Orphica, the Ensemble Platypus, the Vienna Waltz Orchestra and the Mozart Ensemble, the Prague Mozart Orchestra in the Czech Republic, the G.Dima Philharmonie in Romania, in Bulgaria the Philharmonia Orchestra Sofia, in France the Orchester d'Art et d'Essai du Pas-de-Calais. He accompanied soloists such as Pierre-Yves Artaud (flute), Aldo Ciccolini (piano), Mario Hossen (violin), Wolfgang Klos (viola), Dominique de Williencourt (cello) and Rainer Küchl (violin).
He is also the composer of various pieces for orchestra, songs, a cappella choirs, a violin concerto ("Orphée invaincu" 2014), three chamber operas ("The forgotten alchemist" 2009, "Zumurrud" 2011 and "Jeanne and Gilles" 2018) and two cantatas (“Pour une nuit sereine” 1998/2005 and “La prière de Philippe, psaume 144” 2014).
