The multidisciplinary artist Maria Margarethe Drexel, Senior Artist in New Media at the Department of Fine Arts & Design at the Mozarteum University Innsbruck, is being honoured with the Paul Flora Prize 2025. The prize, endowed with 10,000 euros, is awarded annually alternately by the provinces of Tyrol and South Tyrol and honours outstanding artistic achievements and cross-border cultural cooperation.
Data whispers: Making the invisible visible. Salzburg AG endeavours to promote artistic exploration of the topic of ‘energy’. The Salzburg AG Art Prize for students of the Mozarteum University Salzburg is intended to honour outstanding projects in the field of visual arts and make a lasting contribution to artistic reflection.
And the winner is... The university's internal Research Competition Mozarteum (RCM) took place for the 6th time in 2024 and has established itself as a fixed part of the university's annual schedule. On December 3, the best submissions were honored at the Award Ceremony with the involvement of the international RCM jury.
The ‘With Dylan on the Road’ travel grant was conceived for the first time in 2022, enabling artistic teams to travel in the footsteps of Bob Dylan and develop projects. The trips took them to European countries as well as (North and South) American and African countries and brought back a variety of artistic works, from performance to song, from graphic work to theatre pieces, from video installations to artistically sophisticated documentation. With ‘With Dylan on the Road 2’, the Asian region (Japan, Korea, but also Turkey) is now also included in the above-mentioned geographical area, or rather opened up by the ten new artistic-scientific projects.
The call is aimed at young researchers and those interested in research in the context of art and education as well as all neighbouring disciplines. We would like to invite doctoral candidates and post-docs as well as students in Bachelor's and Master's programmes to contribute. A thematic reference to the call is desirable in the contributions, but this is not a prerequisite for participation.
The Ö1 Talent Scholarship for Fine Arts in the amount of 10,000 euros, provided by Wiener Städtische Versicherungsverein, is being offered by Ö1 for the 17th time this year. The prize serves to promote young talent among students at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna, the University of Applied Arts Vienna, the University of Art and Design Linz, the Mozarteum University Salzburg and the University of Art and Design Graz. A special prize on the theme of "Solidarity" is also awarded.
The state scholarships of the Federal Ministry of Arts, Culture, the Civil Service and Sport recognise outstanding artistic achievements to date and serve to promote further artistic creation. Maria Margarethe Drexel, Senior Artist in the field of New Media at the Department of Fine Arts & Design in Innsbruck, has been awarded one of the scholarships worth 18,000 euros. The artistic work of Elisabeth Schmirl, lecturer in the Department of Fine Arts and Design at the Innsbruck location, turns the spacious staircase of the Unicorn - opened in 2021 as a start-up and innovation hub of the University of Graz - into a multi-perspective space for encounters, remembrance and commemoration.
Over a period of five weeks, students from the [Bildnerische] Innsbruck and the Linz Art University wrote letters to each other. The regular exchange resulted in a collaborative collection of image/text combinations, which was presented as part of the exhibition COLLECTING! at Splace am Hauptplatz in Linz. The participating students Janine Zumtobel, Sonja Plattner, Angela Brugger, Özge Can and Mirjam Rizzi were invited to Linz on 19 April for a joint artist talk about the project and reflected on their project together with students from the Linz Art University.
