From October 2026, students at Mozarteum University Salzburg will have the opportunity to gain in-depth insight into orchestral conducting. Christian Thielemann, together with his assistants Martin Fuchsberger and Jobst Schneiderat, will assume responsibility for the artistic training of a select group of aspiring orchestral conductors. Registration for the audition is open until 28 February 2026.

The new artistic trio combines international conducting careers, many years of teaching experience, and a close artistic connection to the Mozarteum’s long tradition of nurturing young musicians. Students can expect professional-level conducting and orchestral practice, individual mentoring, intensive rehearsal work, and artistic exchange in a highly focused learning environment.

With this new artistic direction, the Mozarteum University Salzburg makes a clear statement about the future of orchestral conducting, creating an academic framework in which artistic excellence, reflection, and personal development take centre stage.
