Press release

From 14 July to 9 August 2025, the Mozarteum University's traditional International Summer Academy will once again welcome talented young musicians from all over the world: over 600 instrumentalists and singers from 54 countries can look forward to a wide range of 57 masterclasses in 13 subjects, Young Excellence classes and additional offers on health and professional qualification for musicians in four course periods. This year's highlight: a masterclass with Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli – the ‘only singing teacher Cecilia Bartoli ever had’.

From 4 to 8 August 2025, professional singers of all voice types will have the unique opportunity to work on ‘fundamental principles of vocal technique – the basis of a long singing career’ in a masterclass with Maestra Silvana Bazzoni Bartoli herself. Registrations are open until 20 July 2025. Like the other masterclasses, this masterclass is open to the general public. Audience tickets are available at summer.academy@moz.ac.at. Cecilia Bartoli will also be a guest.

New additions to the programme this year are lectures by neurologist Jürg Kesselring, on the topic of ‘Music and the Brain’, and Moritz Bergfeld, who will shed light on modern recording techniques and their significance for young artists wishing to promote their work.

Numerous public concerts, including four faculty concerts featuring our teaching artists (on Tuesdays) and four matinees concerts showcasing the prizewinners (on Saturdays), round off the programme. The prizes for the best participants in each course period are donated by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg. In addition, numerous scholarships for participants have been made possible by private sponsors and the generous support of the Millennium Pongau and St. Johann Lions Clubs.

At the invitation of the Schloss Höch Cultural Association, three guest performances will once again take place at Schloss Höch in Flachau, and for the second time, the Summer Academy will be a guest at the Mirabell retirement home.

The 2025 lecturers include: Alexander Gilman, Andreas Frese, Andreas Frölich, Andreas Schmidt, Andreas Weber, Annelie Gahl, Arnold Marinissen, Barbara Doll, Bernd Glemser, Britta Bauer, Christian Altenburger, Christoph Declara, Christoph Strehl, Christopher Hinterhuber, Connie Shih, Daniel Auner, Denis Goldfeld, German Tcakulov, Giovanni Gnocchi, Hannfried Lucke, Igor Petrushevski, Jan Jiracek von Arnim, Ji Hye Jung, Johannes Wilhelm, John Thomasson, Kirill Troussov, Konstantin Zelenin, Leo De Maria, Lei Meng, Leonel Morales, Mario Diaz, Martin Grubinger, Mauro Iurato, Meesun Hong-Coleman, Michaela Girardi, Moritz Bergfeld, Pauliina Tukiainen, Pavel Gililov, Peter Lang, Robert Levin, Rolf Plagge, Silvana Bazzoni-Bartoli, Silvia Marcovici, Valentin Radutiu, William Coleman, Ya-Fei Chuang, Zheng Zhou, Zohrab Tadevosyan, Zoriana Kushpler.
