About production

"I'll tell you what freedom is to me: No fear. I mean really, no fear!" (Nina Simone)  Silence dominates the house of Bernarda Alba, who rules over the lives of her daughters with dictatorial severity. After the death of the father, the house becomes a prison during the imposed one-year mourning period. The silence and the mourning sharpen the daughters' view of their own fate. How to deal with this situation of being imprisoned, with the pressure of all the undiscovered urges and feelings?  The daughters are their own biggest obstacle, the everlasting fear prevents them from reaching the promising freedom. It soon becomes clear that the sisters are both victims and accomplices of their own oppression in their mother's system. "Bernarda Alba's House," is the drama by Spanish poet Frederico García Lorca that has been performed most frequently around the world to this day. He completed the play in 1936, barely two months before his assassination by putschist fascists.
An evening of theater full of energy and emotion, as you would expect from the students at the Thomas Bernhard Institute in the KunstQuartier.
