Baroque Night 2023: Perfidious Albion
Fri 26.5.2023

Every year the Department of Early Music organises the Baroque Night with five concerts, which are among the most important baroque music concerts of the year in Salzburg. The varied programme is designed by students and teachers of the department and includes different chamber music and orchestral instrumentations.

This year the main theme of the event is the English Baroque, its composers* and their influence. The highlight of the evening will be a concert by the Baroque Orchestra of the Department of Early Music, conducted by Vittorio Ghielmi, which will perform symphonies by German composers who lived in London, such as J.C. Bach and C.F. Abel.

In addition, chamber music concerts will be performed by students and teachers of the various classes of the Department of Early Music, with music from the Renaissance to Classicism, making this event a musical marathon full of contrasts, lasting more than five hours (with breaks in between), and combined in a special and pleasant summer atmosphere.
