For 28 years now, prima la musica has offered all music-loving children and young people the opportunity to put their talent and skills to the test in the competition. Young musicians between the ages of 6 and 21 will face the jury in the solo categories of woodwind and brass instruments as well as percussion and in the chamber music categories of piano, accordion, string instruments, plucked instruments, vocal ensembles and "Ensemble kreativ". The "prima la musica PLUS" category is aimed primarily at young people whose goal is to study music professionally. The competitions are open to the public for all interested parties.

Selected prize-winners will attract attention at the final concert on 12.03.2023 in the festive ambience of the Carabinieri Hall. At the national competition from 18 to 29 May 2023 in Graz, all prize winners qualified from the regional competitions will present themselves. The special prize "prima Komponistinnen" for the best interpretation of a work by a female composer will be awarded for the second time in 2023. "Music enriches our lives in many ways. Not only does it have an individual positive effect on players and listeners that arises directly from the musical experience, but music has a long-term impact on personal development and social well-being. "Ulrike Sych, chairwoman of the federal advisory board of MUSIC OF YOUTH, is convinced.

Let's look forward to intense musical experiences at prima la musica 2023.
