Thomas Nußbaumer
Thomas Nußbaumer has worked at the Mozarteum University n Innsbruck, in the Department of Musicology (Division of Ethnomusicology), since 1995. His research and publications focus on music and customs, carnival traditions (Fasnacht, Fasching), folk music and National Socialism, folk music traditions in the Alpine region (particularly in western Austria and South Tyrol), and the music of the Old Order Amish in Iowa (USA).
Thomas Nußbaumer (b. 1966 in Hall in Tirol) studied musicology and German at the University of Innsbruck, where he received his doctorate in 1998. He completed his habilitation at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna in 2010 with a thesis on Alfred Quellmalz and his South Tyrolean field research (1940–42): A Study of Musical Folklore under National Socialism (Innsbruck, 2001).
