Oliver Beihammer

Senior Artist in the field of art practice[Fine Arts] Innsbruck

Oliver Beihammer is Senior Artist at the Department of Art at Mozarteum University Innsbruck. His artistic practice centres on Walking Art, drawing on experiences of long-distance walking and travel, particularly in regions north of the Arctic Circle. He explores these experiences through sculpture, drawing, printmaking and photography, engaging with questions of the sublime, the philosophy of place and Zen Buddhism.

Born in 1967, Beihammer initially studied philosophy at the University of Salzburg before completing teacher training in Design:Technology and Art at Mozarteum University. During his studies, he frequently collaborated with architects and, from 2003 onwards, worked on the liturgical reconfiguration of churches and other sacred spaces. Since 2020, he has been a member of Xylon Austria, the Association for Woodcutting and Letterpress.

His work has been exhibited in Austria and internationally.
