Johanna Schwarz is an artist with an international exhibition practice and a qualified teacher of Design: Technology.Textile and Visual Arts. She teaches both subjects at secondary level and, since 2023, has also taught within the teacher education programme at Mozarteum University Salzburg. Her experience in both school and university settings enables her to connect current classroom practice with teacher education and subject didactics.
In her artistic work, she frequently draws on textile and craft techniques, reinterpreting them and transforming them into new forms. The resulting objects are often wearable and can envelop the human body while simultaneously restricting movement and challenging conventional notions of clothing and function. In recent years, her practice has focused increasingly on natural dyes and their application to textile materials.
