Senior Lecturer for Music Theory, Composition & Aural Training⋅Department of Composition & Music Theory
Stephan Quandel studied composition at the University of Music and Dance Cologne with Krzysztof Meyer and Markus Hechtle, as well as pedagogy in harmony and counterpoint (Tonsatz) and aural training with Friedrich Jaecker and Johannes Schild. Since 2019, he has been Senior Lecturer in music theory, harmony and counterpoint, and aural training at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. His research focuses on new approaches to music theory and on late Romantic repertoire, particularly the music of Gustav Mahler.
