„Gil & Miles” MOZ/KONS Jazz Orchestra
The legendary collaboration of composer and arranger Gil Evans with trumpeter Miles Davis is a highlight of jazz history, documented on the important albums Miles Ahead, Sketches of Spain, Porgy and Bess, among others. A selection of rarely heard works will be performed by the MOZ/KONS Jazz Orchestra, which was formed especially for this project.

Stephan Costa, who was responsible for the Austrian premiere of this music in 1997 in the big house of the Tyrolean Landestheater, conducts the orchestra. The demanding trumpet and flugelhorn solos are played by Martin Ohrwalder, one of Austria's most accomplished jazz trumpeters. No big band sound in the traditional sense but a specially cast orchestra with double flutes, clarinets, horns, trombones, trumpets and bassoon, with harp, bass, percussion and without piano or amplification.
