Sweet Spot: Disintegration
In "The Disintegration Loops" by the American sound artist William Basinski, the process of decay of analog storage media becomes artistic content. In the attempt to digitize old magnetic tapes, their ferrites (the magnetic coating) became detached, which led, as it were, to a gradual acoustic decay of the musical source material (Basinski: "The music was dying") On this evening, a selection from the multi-part concept album will be heard.
