At the national competition for German-speaking drama students in Frankfurt, the final year of the Thomas Bernhard Institute at the Mozarteum University won several prizes for its production of Elfriede Jelinek's "The Silent Girl". In addition to the Swiss Ensemble Prize and the Audience Prize/Students' Prize, we are delighted to have won two solo prizes for Payam Yazdani and Joyce Mayne Sanhá.

As thought leaders of social development, universities are particularly challenged to live up to their pioneering role with regard to sustainable development. As part of the Salzkammergut Capital of Culture 2024, the Lehár Theatre in Bad Ischl, in cooperation with the Mozarteum University and the Lehár Festival, will be the venue for a short operetta festival that aims to revive the operetta condemned by the National Socialists. The aim: short, topical, critical.

Where art and design meet education: the Department of Fine Arts & Design at the Mozarteum University Salzburg offers students an inspiring environment in which artistic and design practice, theory and teaching are combined. On 18 and 19 March, the department opens its doors to all interested parties at the Open House.

After the Senate and the University Council of the University Mozarteum Salzburg announced the re-election of Rector Prof.in Elisabeth Gutjahr in February 2021, her team was also re-elected in May 2021. Hannfried Lucke (Vice Rector for Arts), Mario Kostal (Vice Rector for Teaching) and Anastasia Weinberger (Vice Rector for Resources) will continue to steer the fortunes of the University alongside Elisabeth Gutjahr.

Paul Feigelfeld has been a university professor for digitality and cultural mediation at the Institute for Open Arts at the Mozarteum University since October. He researches transcultural approaches to the history of media and knowledge, critical perspectives on technologies and their interfaces with art and design.
