    Under the title "Staging Realities" Mozarteum University invites media artists and artist collectives to apply for a funded residency to create an interactive, multi-user XR performance in the newly built X-Reality-Lab. Fully operational in winter 2025, the Lab features cutting-edge projection-based XR technology and is supported by the open-source software framework mozXR developed in cooperation with the Ars Electronica Futurelab.

    Establishing a similarity between the harmonic sequences in W. A. Mozart's Phantasia in C minor (KV 475) and the color chords of Salzburg is the starting point and program of the artistic-scientific cooperation project that brings together selected students of the University Mozarteum Salzburg and young people as well as adults of the class "Sound and Color" of the Landesmusikschule Bad Ischl.

    VR MozART takes the audience on a journey through space and time, using virtual reality glasses to immerse us in the emotional world of experience that W. A. Mozart's music opens up in all of us. In the English reading, the title VR MozART refers to the cultural adaptation that Mozart's work has experienced in European and also worldwide reception.

    What a beautiful story: In 1869, the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef travelled to Japan. On board was a Bösendorfer grand piano as a gift for the Japanese Emperor Meiji. Legend has it that a naval officer was allowed to play the instrument for the tenno - a first musical experience that cemented the friendship between the two countries.

    Matthias Bartolomey has been professor of concert violoncello at the Mozarteum University since October - and he has a lot planned for the future, starting with a course on progressive playing techniques in addition to repertoire teaching, which combines his diverse chamber music and soloist experience with new, intuitive improvisational approaches.
