The research project investigates the combination of textile and sound. The aesthetic potential of the textile-sound combination is explored and new possibilities of artistic expression are explored. Textile is an interactive medium and metaphor in its form of presentation and interpretation. Textile is material that uses certain techniques without naming the material or technology itself, similar to architecture. The term sound encompasses the artistic fields of sound art, music, ambient noise, transacoustic fields and silence. Sound is based on a conceptual compositional process in terms of the organisation of sounds, but also has a physical aspect in that the perception of sound is strongly linked to bodily processes such as breath, movement and heart rate.

The inter-university institution Science and Art of the Paris-Lodron University and the Mozarteum University Salzburg, which has existed since 2002, is dedicated to the multifaceted relationship between science and the arts of all disciplines in research, teaching and communication. Since October 2019, Spot On MozART has been dedicated to the visual exploration of listening and thus to a new understanding of the music of Wolfgang Amadé Mozart. At the end of the project in autumn 2023, the Mozarteum University will present a retrospective of all implemented art and research projects in a comprehensive publication.

Judith Rubatscher, graduate of music education at the Mozarteum Innsbruck, was awarded a research prize by the Kanda Center of the University of Innsbruck for her ethnomusicological thesis "'Singen is a part vo unsam leben.' Rubatscher dealt with the musical tradition of the Hutterites, a Tyrolean Anabaptist community from the 16th century, which today is only represented in North America.
