Chinese pianist Lei Meng is a professor of piano at the Mozarteum University and a lecturer at the International Summer Academy. She regularly gives master classes and serves on the jury of international piano competitions.
Pianist Lei Meng was born in Harbin, China, and began her musical training at the China Conservatory in Beijing. She subsequently continued her studies at the University Mozarteum Salzburg and the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique et de danse de Paris. Since 2024, she has been a faculty member of the University Mozarteum Salzburg’s International Summer Academy. In the same year, she was appointed Professor of Piano and Piano Pedagogy, and for the winter semester 2026/27, she was appointed Professor of Piano.
Lei Meng regularly gives masterclasses and serves on the juries of international piano competitions. She has received numerous national prizes in China. In 2009, she was awarded the “Mozart Prize” by the University Mozarteum Salzburg. In 2011, she was a prizewinner at the international Bang & Olufsen PianoRAMA Competition in Aarhus, Denmark, and in 2016 at the Santa Cecilia Competition in Porto, Portugal.
Her concert career has taken her to numerous countries across Europe, as well as to the United States, China, and Brazil. She is a regular guest at major international festivals and has performed as a soloist with various orchestras and in a wide range of chamber music ensembles.
In 2016, Lei Meng released her first CD, featuring works by Scarlatti, Mozart, and Dutilleux. More recently, several recordings have been released on the Coviello Classics label.
