The Chinese pianist Lei Meng is a professor of piano and piano didactics at the Mozarteum University, and a lecturer at the International Summer Academy. She regularly holds masterclasses and sits on the juries of international piano competitions.

Pianist Lei Meng was born in Harbin (China) in 1991 and began her musical training in Beijing, first at the China Conservatory and then at the Austrian-Chinese Music University. She subsequently studied at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Klaus Kaufmann and at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris with Prof Michel Béroff. Lei Meng completed her master's degree at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with honours in 2016, and followed this with a further year of postgraduate study; she also completed a bachelor's degree in instrumental pedagogy. In 2017, she was appointed as a piano teacher and accompanist at the Grassau Music School in Bavaria. She began teaching at the Mozarteum University Salzburg as a senior lecturer for piano in 2018 and completed her habilitation in 2022. Since 2024 she has been a lecturer at the International Summer Academy of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. She was appointed Professor of Piano and Piano Didactics for the winter semester 2024/25. 

Lei Meng has received numerous national prizes in her home country and abroad, including the ‘Mozart Prize’ at the Mozarteum University Salzburg (2009), the ‘Bang & Olufsen PianoRAMA’ competition in Aarhus (2011), and the ‘Santa Cecilia’ competition in Porto. Concerts have taken her to many European countries, the USA, China and Brazil and she regularly receives invitations to perform as a soloist and chamber musician at major festivals and with various orchestras and chamber music ensembles. In 2016, Lei Meng recorded her first CD with works by Scarlatti, Mozart and Dutilleux. Together with professors from the Mozarteum University Salzburg, she recorded the complete piano concertos by Johann Sebastian Bach on DVD. Recently, several CD recordings have been released on the Coviello Classics label.
