After four intensive weeks with 520 participants from 51 nations, 51 master classes and 16 additional courses with a focus on musicians' health as well as around 60 public events, the International Summer Academy 2023 came to an end last week with much positive feedback. Twelve young artists were also awarded prizes of 1,000 euros each, sponsored by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg.

On July 16, this year's edition of the top-class French-Austrian Academy of Composition came to a successful close in Marseille with four concerts. For the first time, the prize winners of the International Mozart Competition were invited to Marseille and performed in the concerts.

200 singers and musicians proved on July 2, 2023 that Dresden is located by the sea: The University Choir of Dresden, the Mozarteum UniChoir and the Staatskapelle Dresden let mighty waves of sound roll over the heads of 500 enthusiastic concertgoers with a brilliant program on the theme of "Beauty and Horror of the Sea" in the Kreuzkirche.

Intensive one-week master classes with 53 renowned, top-class artists and teachers from the Mozarteum University and the international music industry, numerous public concerts and a colorful supporting program: from July 17 to August 12, the International Summer Academy will once again open its doors. It has evolved visually, but above all in terms of content.

Independent scientific publications, peer-reviewed conference papers and teaching assignments at renowned institutions: Our students contribute significantly to representing the Mozarteum University in artistic-scientific research and pedagogy in music theory nationally and internationally. The production of an "animal trilogy" including Camille Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals" is already the second major cooperation between the Mozarteum University and the Marionette Theatre. On the violin: Benjamin Schmid.

Call for papers: For the upcoming conference, we invite scholars and researchers from the fields of art, political economy, architecture, urbanism, history, philosophy, etc. to submit proposals that address historical and contemporary forms of productivity and their social and aesthetic manifestations.

Reflections on the mountain on inter- and transdisciplinary collaboration: A one-day workshop at Erentrudis Alm discussed ways for (new) transformative collaboration, provided a framework for exchange between researchers and stakeholders on ongoing and future projects at the interface of STEM and ART.

Munich baritone Jakob Hoffmann is the winner of the 5th International Haydn Competition for Classical Song and Aria, endowed with 8,000 euros, which took place over the Whitsun weekend at Rohrau Castle (Bruck/Leitha district, Lower Austria). Hoffmann also picked up two special prizes.

With the call "Out of the box", the city of Salzburg launched a competition of innovative ideas for the districts of Riedenburg and Maxglan. With "We swarm for the beehive" by Agnes Scherer and "burgglan" by Erik Hable, two of six awards went to members of the Mozarteum University.

For the 9th time, the internal violin competition Concorso Ruggiero Ricci took place from May 17 to 19, offering students the opportunity to gain competition experience in a familiar atmosphere.
