    Awarding of ensemble scholarship 

    The presentation concert of the scholarship holders of the newly created ensemble scholarship A (one-year) Start Up for Ensemble(s) took place in the impressive ambience of Schloss Leopoldskron at the beginning of April. In cooperation with "The International Society of Mozarteum University Salzburg", over 44.000 euros will be made available to students or graduates of the Mozarteum University Salzburg.

    Evil Operetta 

    As part of the Salzkammergut Capital of Culture 2024, the Lehár Theatre in Bad Ischl, in cooperation with the Mozarteum University and the Lehár Festival, will be the venue for a short operetta festival that aims to revive the operetta condemned by the National Socialists. The aim: short, topical, critical.

    On November 27, the 2023 Cultural Fund Awards of the City of Salzburg were presented at the Solitär. Among others, Andreas Bernhofer, Thomas Ballhausen and Gordon Safari from the Mozarteum University were honored.

    The English vocal ensemble Voces8 is one of the world's leading a cappella formations. The three ladies and five gentlemen set standards in unaccompanied solo singing in terms of intonation, legato culture, vocal homogeneity and stylistic diversity. Voces8 celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2023. At the invitation of the Mozarteum University and the Salzburg Bach Society, the ensemble will be available for a workshop on November 20.

    We warmly welcome! 

    On October 1, six new university professors, mezzo-soprano Zoryana Kushpler, pianist Ya-Fei Chuang, guitarist Andrea De Vitis, innovation researcher and computer scientist Christopher Lindinger, violist Muriel Razavi and violist Sào Soulez Larivière, began their work at the Mozarteum University. We warmly welcome them!

    International Summer Academy selects 12 award winners 

    After four intensive weeks with 520 participants from 51 nations, 51 master classes and 16 additional courses with a focus on musicians' health as well as around 60 public events, the International Summer Academy 2023 came to an end last week with much positive feedback. Twelve young artists were also awarded prizes of 1,000 euros each, sponsored by the Cultural Fund of the City of Salzburg.

    #salzburgerfestspiele: Martin Polaschek and students in conversation 

    Federal Minister for Education, Science and Research Ao. Univ.-Prof. Dr. Martin Polaschek was a guest at the Mozarteum University on Tuesday, August 8, 2023 and congratulated students on their various engagements at the Salzburg Festival. In a conversation lasting just under an hour, the students told how their engagements came about and why the Salzburg Festival can be an important stage for the future.

    Opera out of Opera 2 

    Continuation of Opera out of Opera: Don Giovanni in Rome, Così fan tutte in Porto, Le nozze di Figaro in Stockholm and La Bohème in Oslo and Salzburg. What began in 2018 under the project title Opera out of Opera will be continued across Europe from 2023 to 2025. Co-funded by the European Commission's Creative Europe program, Opera out of Opera II builds on the results of the first project period - with the aim of developing innovative opera formats for new target groups.

    The Mozarteum University mourns the loss of an extraordinary educator, artist and colleague who was known for his discipline and openness, contributed much to the institution and remained connected to the university as a curious spirit even years after his retirement.

    1st prize for Santiago Sánchez 

    Six finalists competed for the coveted prizes in the vocal category at the 15th International Mozart Competition on February 16, 2023 in the Solitär of the Mozarteum University. The 1st prize goes to Santiago Valentín Sánchez Barbadora, the 2nd prize to Chelsea Marilyn Zurflüh, and the 3rd prize to Dániel Foki.

    Participants in the vocal category 

    39 singers from 15 countries competed for the International Mozart Competition of the Universtiät Mozarteum in the vocal category from February 10 to 16, 2023. A program highlight was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the IGNM, which was celebrated in 2022. The final took place on February 16, 2023 in the Solitär.
