Semester fees
All students must pay the ÖH fee and, if applicable, the tuition fee each semester. The ÖH fee for the academic year 2022/23 is € 22.70. The payment information for the ÖH fee can be found in MOZonline under tuition fee status.
Important, be sure to enter the correct payment reference when making your payment. The payment reference is different each semester. You can find your payment reference for this semester in MOZonline under Tuition Fee Status.
Regular students with citizenship from the EU/EEA/CH and students of equal status must pay the tuition fee of € 363.36 (+ ÖH contribution) per semester after the end of the non-contributory period (intended duration of studies + two tolerance semesters).
Regular students from third countries, who do not fall under the regulation on groups of persons and who have a residence permit "Student" according to § 64 NAG, have to pay a tuition fee of € 726,72 (+ ÖH-fee) from the first semester on.
Regular students from third countries who have a permanent residence title can apply for equal treatment in terms of tuition fees and will thus be treated equally to EU/EEA/CH citizens for the duration of the residence title.
Regular students from the least developed countries can apply for a waiver of tuition fees.These include: Afghanistan, Angola, Bangladesh, Benin, Bhutan, Burkina Faso, Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Eritrea, Gambia, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Haiti, Yemen, Cambodia, Kiribati, Comoros, Laos, Lesotho, Liberia, Madagascar, Malawi, Mali, Mauritania, Mozambique, Myanmar, Nepal, Niger, East Timor, Rwanda, Solomon Islands, Zambia, Sao Tome and Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, Somalia, Sudan, South Sudan, Tanzania, Togo, Chad, Tuvalu, Uganda, Vanuatu, Central African Republic.
Extraordinary students have to pay the ÖH-fee and the tuition fee of € 363,36 every semester.

Waiver & Refund of Tuition or Course Fee
Regular students from third countries who have a permanent residence title can apply for equal treatment in terms of tuition fees and will thus be treated equally to EU/EEA/CH citizens for the duration of the residence title.
An application for waiver of the tuition fee can be submitted by regular students with the citizenship of an EU or EEA country and foreign students with the same status if one of the following reasons applies:
- You are prevented from studying for at least two months due to pregnancy.
- You are prevented from studying for at least two months due to illness.
- You are prevented from studying due to the care of children up to their 7th birthday or a possible later start of school.
- You are prevented from studying due to other care obligations.
- You have been diagnosed with a disability of at least 50%.
- You have received study grants in the last semester or are receiving them in this semester.
Regular students from the least developed countries can also apply for a waiver of the tuition fee.

The application for waiver of tuition fees must be submitted by September 30 at the latest for the winter semester or February 28/29 for the summer semester.
You can apply for a refund of tuition fees if one of the following reasons applies:
- You have deregistered or terminated your studies before the end of the re-registration period (31 October in the winter semester and 31 March in the summer semester).
- You are not liable to pay fees for any further studies at an Austrian university.
- You have deregistered from your studies in the first semester and without having passed an examination before the end of the deadline for further registration (31 October in the winter semester and 31 March in the summer semester).
- You are not liable to pay fees in any further studies at an Austrian university.
- You will complete studies or practical periods abroad within the framework of mobility programmes.
- You are prevented from studying for at least two months due to pregnancy.
- You are prevented from studying for at least two months due to illness.
- You are prevented from studying due to the care of children up to their 7th birthday or a possible later start of school.
- You are prevented from studying due to other care obligations.
- You have been diagnosed with a disability of at least 50%.
- You have received study grants in the last semester or are receiving them in this semester.
The application for reimbursement must be submitted by the following February 28/29 for the winter semester and by the following September 30 for the summer semester.
A request for refund of the course fee may be made if you drop the course before the end of the re-registration period (October 31 in the winter semester and March 31 in the summer semester).
The request for refund must be made at the time of dropping the course.

Scholarship of the University Mozarteum
for foreign students
Amount of the scholarship: Semester/year scholarship max. € 300,- per month
Requirements:
- Minimum age 19 years, maximum age completed 28 years of age
- At least 4 semesters of study at the Mozarteum University (application in the 4th semester. Exception: application possible already in the 2nd semester at the Mozarteum, in case of equivalent previous studies at another Austrian or foreign recognised college or university)
- very good evaluation in the central artistic subject/main subject
- Sufficient successful study work in the other compulsory subjects, grade point average not worse than 2.0
- recognised courses are not taken into account
- two excellent letters of recommendation
- social need
- no completed Master's/Magister/Diplom studies at the University Mozarteum

One-time scholarship from the scholarship fund of the University Mozarteum
for international students
Amount of the scholarship: one-time, max. € 400,- per semester.
Requirements:
- Minimum age 19 years, maximum age completed 28 years of age
- at least 2 semesters of study at the Mozarteum University
- very good evaluation in the central artistic subject/main subject
- Sufficient successful study work in the other compulsory subjects, grade point average not worse than 2.0
- recognised courses are not taken into account

For students of the Pre-College

- Social need

- Special scholarship for students with caring responsibilities
for regular students

Information on scholarships submitted to or awarded by the University Mozarteum Salzburg:
Application forms are available in the Study and Examination Management. The ranking and awarding of scholarships is carried out by a commission. If all requirements are met, however, there is no legal entitlement to the award of a scholarship. The number of scholarships to be awarded depends on the funding available. The selection or ranking is made according to the criteria set out in the terms and conditions of the call for applications. After the decision on the award, the applicants will be informed by e-mail.
The University Mozarteum Salzburg is offering two scholarships from the Gianna Szel Scholarship Foundation. The purpose of the Gianna Szel Scholarship Foundation is to support the education of two singers at the University Mozarteum Salzburg.
Target group: Domestic and foreign students of the University Mozarteum Salzburg with a valid admission to the following studies: Bachelor's programme "Singing", Master's programme "Opera and Music Theatre", Master's programme "Lied and Oratorio", Master's programme "Singing", Postgraduate university programme "Singing", Postgraduate university programme "Lied and Oratorio", Postgraduate university programme "Liedduo", Postgraduate university programme "Opera and Music Theatre".

Applicants can only receive the Gianna Szel Scholarship once.
Requirements for applying for a Gianna Szel Scholarship:
- Minimum age 19 years; maximum age 32 years (for dramatic voices: maximum age 35 years).
- already enrolled for at least two semesters at the University Mozarteum Salzburg
- very good performance evaluation in the major and minor subjects
- audition of a 15-minute programme
- social need
Explanation of the awarding procedure: The selection and awarding of scholarships is carried out by the board of the Gianna Szel Scholarship Foundation according to the criteria set out in the conditions of the call for applications. The amount of the scholarships to be awarded depends on the funding available. There is no legal entitlement to the award of a scholarship. Notification of acceptance and rejection will be sent by e-mail after the decision on the award has been made.
Please note: Applications for a scholarship from the Gianna Szel Scholarship Foundation should be sent in writing to the secretary's office, Department of Voice and Department of Opera and Music Theatre, University Mozarteum Salzburg, Schwarzstraße 26, 5020 Salzburg, or handed in there.

Work Scholarship of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research
- for regular domestic students and regular students from the EU/EEA
- Amount of the scholarship: Annual scholarship: for the academic year 2023/24: approx. € 650,- per month
- Requirements:
- Completion of a Master's degree or diploma programme with distinction
- credible evidence of further studies for artistic specialisation at home or abroad

Performance Scholarship of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research
- for domestic regular students and regular students from the EU/EEA
- Amount of the scholarship: one-time, € 750,- up to max. € 1.500,-.
- Requirements:
- at least 2 semesters of study at the Mozarteum University
- more than 30 ECTS-AP in the academic year under consideration (only achievements of studies in the period of entitlement will be taken into account.)
- a grade point average of better than 1.5 in the examinations, courses and academic papers used for the assessment
- compliance with the entitlement period (§ 18 StudFG), taking into account any important reasons (§ 19 StudFG).

Scholarship of the Federal Ministry of Education, Science and Research
- for regular domestic students and regular students from the EU/EEA
- Amount of the scholarship: one-time, € 750,- up to max. € 3.600,-.
- Requirements:
- Proof of completion of an unfinished (final) thesis at the University Mozarteum Salzburg including a description of the thesis, a breakdown of costs and a financing plan
- Submission of at least one expert opinion by a university professor on the cost breakdown and on whether the student is likely to be able to carry out the work with above-average success on the basis of his/her previous academic achievements and the proposals for carrying out the work.
- compliance with the entitlement period (§ 18 StudFG), taking into account any important reasons (§ 19 StudFG).
