Institute for Open Arts

The recently established Institute for Open Arts is currently in an exciting development phase. The institute offers open structures for artistic research in theory and practice as an inter-, trans- and non-disciplinary workspace within the university. Forging connections between the arts (music, visual arts, text, theatre, dance, film, digital media), and doing so both within and outside the university, allows for boundaries between different disciplines to be broken down; particularly exciting opportunities arise through engagement with the natural sciences and humanities and the networking of the analogue with the digital world.

About

At the Institute for Open Arts, unusual methods and different ways of thinking can open up innovations and new dimensions in art and academic scholarship. The Institute is home to the PhD programme in Artistic Research, and further study programmes and offers are currently being developed.

Ensemble scholarship: A (one-year) Start Up for Ensemble(s)

Establishing and developing the profile of an ensemble is one of the most demanding and, at the same time, most appealing challenges in artistic development. Many globally successful ensembles were formed during their studies, laying the foundation for an international chamber music career. However, existing study programmes alone can only provide limited incentives and framework conditions for this. The ensemble scholarship is the answer to this: convincing project proposals receive financial support for a period of one year to realise specific artistic projects.
