Encouragement of Talented Students

Direction: Andreas Weber

In addition to the Pre-College, the University Mozarteum has its own Highly Gifted Programme for the special personal development, advancement and support of highly gifted children and adolescents. The aim is the identification and individual, intensive, sustainable support of musically highly gifted children and young people and their development into artistically highly differentiated musical personalities.

The support includes events inside and outside the university, preparation and accompaniment to international competitions, cooperation with international festivals, organising international concert opportunities, establishing contacts with agencies and comparable institutions as well as documenting the activities.

In addition to the artistic promotion of musically gifted children and young people, the focus is also on their adequate counselling and individually oriented accompanying research. The scientific work and publications focus on the areas of music-specific teaching and learning with regard to the development of musical competences, personality development as well as artistic didactics and the specific promotion of musically gifted children and young people.

The students in the programme for the promotion of giftedness are selected in a separate selection procedure.

Prerequisites for admission to the gifted programme are at least two completed semesters of study at the Pre-College and the completion of a separate admission examination. Students in the gifted programme remain students of the Pre-College.
