It is with great sorrow that the Mozarteum University announces the passing of its former rector, Univ.-Prof. Reinhart von Gutzeit, who died on 11th July 2025 in Lucerne after a long illness, surrounded by his family.

The starting point for the film NIGHT is the Fantasy in D minor by W. A. Mozart, perhaps the most played piano piece, at least among young music students, which inspired a cinematic narrative in which the composer's biographical approaches and musical elements of the composition were associatively transformed into a woman's nocturnal journey through a big city, played by Jenny Schily.

The flutist and instrumental music teacher Sofiia Musina came to Salzburg to study at the Mozarteum University in April 2022. From 2017 to 2022, she studied at the Borys Grinchenko Kyiv University in Ukraine and obtained a Master's degree in ‘Master of Musical Art. Educational and Professional Programme: Musical Art’. The first winners of the 15th International Mozart Competition have been announced. The 1st prize in the string quartet category and the traditional special prize of the Mozarteum Foundation for the best interpretation of a string quartet by W. A. What a beautiful story: In 1869, the Austrian Emperor Franz Josef travelled to Japan. On board was a Bösendorfer grand piano as a gift for the Japanese Emperor Meiji.
