    Organisation … Home About us Organisation University Council University Council The University Council is one of the three governing bodies of the Mozarteum University Salzburg, along with the Rectorate and the Senate. Members of the Council must not be members or employees of the university, nor can they be government employees of the ministry responsible for university affairs. Council secretary:+43 676 88122432birgit.berger@moz.ac.at Of the Council's five members, two are elected by the Senate of the Mozarteum University and two by the Federal Government. At the first meeting of the new period of office, these four members appoint the fifth member of the University Council by mutual agreement. The term of office is limited to five years. The main duties of the University Council include the election of the Rector and the election of the Vice-Rectors. It is responsible for approving the development plan and the organisational plan. The duties of the University Council are regulated in §21 of the Universities Act 2002. Exemplary for these activities is the awarding of an honorary professorship by the Senate of the Mozarteum University to the Belarusian flautist, pedagogue and civil rights activist Maria Kalesnikava, who was sentenced to 11 years of penal colony in her home country.
