Eberhard Preußner - esteemed as a musicologist and music educator of his generation - was above all also an ingenious administrator for whom the fate of the Mozarteum became the central purpose of his life for decades. The 'Preußner-Hof' in the middle of the main building has given way to the new building but Preußner's achievements remain undisputed and can be documented in detail with regard to their substance and assessed from today's perspective. The articles in this volume trace his wide-ranging activities in words and pictures, and capture his personality in the focus of Salzburg's cultural scenes, which he so lastingly helped to move and determine - most recently, from 1959, as President of the Academy of Music and Performing Arts "Mozarteum".
