Doris Valtiner-Pühringer

Senior Lecturer in Elemental Music & Dance PedagogyDepartment of Elemental Music & Dance Education – Orff Institute

Doris Valtiner-Pühringer is senior lecturer at the Orff-Institute in the fields of dance, didactics, and MTID (music and dance in inclusion and diversity). In 2013, she enthusiastically took on the role of the moderator and producer of the “Mittendrin-Concerts” in cooperation with the Orff-Institute. This series features 25 concerts per season for 0 to 3-year-olds and their (grand)parents, as well as for toddler groups and inclusive groups.

She is also particularly interested in projects that are interdisciplinary and require collaboration between departments and institutions. This led to the creation of the new format “Mittendrin-Young Artists” – a collaboration between the Mozarteum, the Mozarteum Foundation, and Musikum Salzburg.

Doris Valtiner-Pühringer graduated with honors in 2007 with a degree in “Elemental Music and Dance Education” from the Orff-Institute at the Mozarteum University Salzburg. During her studies abroad in England, she was able to deepen her knowledge of choreography and other minor subjects such as “Installation Art” and “Voice Production” at the Dartington College of Arts.

She gained practical experience teaching children's dance at SEAD (Salzburg Academy of Dance) and leading dance theater workshops at Toihaus in Salzburg. This was followed by a position at Musikum Salzburg in the field of „elemental music pedagogy“.

In addition to teaching courses in Austria and abroad, she was a member of the performance group „Das Collectif“ (performance group of the Orff-Institute) from 2007 to 2012, with numerous performances in Austria and Germany.

In 2013, she took over the conception and moderation of the „Mittendrin-concerts“ as part of the cultural education program of the International Mozarteum Foundation.

Doris Valtiner-Pühringer is co-editor and author of the book „Kinderkonzerte für alle Sinne“ (Children's Concerts for All the Senses), published by Pustet Verlag, and co-author of the publication „KunstStückWerk“. Eine interaktive Entdeckungsreise für Kleinkindgruppen (An Interactive Journey of Discovery for Toddler Groups), published by Edition Tandem.

She is also an active member of the association IGMI (Interest Group Music Inclusive Austria) and the association SIAM (Salzburg Institute for Arts in Medicine).

This activity led to her participation in the “Tanz Mit!” project—a collaboration between the Mozarteum, W&K, FH, Salzburg Research, and SIAM.
