Doris Valtiner-Pühringer

Senior Lecturer in Elemental Music & Dance PedagogyDepartment of Elemental Music & Dance Education – Orff Institute

Doris Valtiner-Pühringer is Senior Lecturer at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg in the fields of dance, didactics and Music and Dance in Inclusion and Diversity (MTID). A particular focus of her work is the development of interdisciplinary and inclusive artistic formats for young children and families, including the long-running “Mittendrin-Concerts” series created in cooperation with the International Mozarteum Foundation.

After graduating with distinction in Elemental Music and Dance Education from the Orff Institute in 2007, Doris Valtiner-Pühringer continued her studies in the United Kingdom at the Dartington College of Arts, where she expanded her work in choreography and explored additional fields including installation art and voice production. During this period, she gained practical experience teaching children’s dance at the Salzburg Experimental Academy of Dance (SEAD) and leading dance theatre workshops at Toihaus Salzburg. She later worked at Musikum Salzburg in the field of elemental music pedagogy.

Alongside teaching activities in Austria and abroad, Valtiner-Pühringer was a member of the performance group “Das Collectif” from 2007 to 2012, appearing in productions and performances in Austria and Germany. Since 2013, she has been responsible for the conception, moderation and production of the “Mittendrin-Concerts,” a cultural education programme of the International Mozarteum Foundation featuring around 25 concerts each season for infants, toddlers, families and inclusive groups. This work also led to the development of the format “Mittendrin-Young Artists,” a collaboration between the Mozarteum University, the International Mozarteum Foundation and Musikum Salzburg.

Valtiner-Pühringer is co-editor and author of the publication Kinderkonzerte für alle Sinne and co-author of KunstStückWerk. Eine interaktive Entdeckungsreise für Kleinkindgruppen. She is also an active member of the associations IGMI (Interest Group Music Inclusive Austria) and SIAM (Salzburg Institute for Arts in Medicine). Through these collaborations, she has participated in interdisciplinary initiatives such as the project “Tanz Mit!,” developed together with partners from the fields of education, research and arts in medicine.
