Monika Mittendorfer
From 1980 to 1994 Monika Mittendorfer taught recorder and creative dance for children at the music school in Salzburg.
From 1989 to 1990 she gave practical lectures in historical dance (English country dances, dances from Mozart's time) at the University Sports Institute of the Lodron University in Paris. In 1992 she held a guest course in theory and dance practice at the Mozarteum with a focus on music and dance of the French Renaissance.
From 1989 to 1994 she completed training as a movement analyst/dance therapist (Cary Rick System) at the Institute for Movement Analysis and graduated with a diploma.
From 1980 to 1991 Monika Mittendorfer was a member of the historical dance ensemble at the Institute for Musicology and took part in numerous performances as a dancer and recorder player, including the Kassel Music Days in 1989.
She was also involved in a video production for the exhibition organized by the Lower Austrian provincial government in 1990. She has experience in the reconstruction and rehearsal of special dances, eg the dance Folie d'Espagne pour femme after the original source for baroque dance notation by RA Feuillet (Choréographie ou l'art de décrire la danse), Paris 1700.
From 1987 to 1991 she was Study assistant at the Institute for Musicology in Salzburg and in charge of the dance archive Derra de Moroda. Since 1994, Monika Mittendorfer has been a professor at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg in the department of musicology (special area: historical dance, theory and history of dance and music).
Since the winter semester of 1996 she has been the coordinator of the dance department at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In the winter semester 2001/02 she was a lecturer at the Institute for Theater, Film and Media Studies in Vienna and gave lectures on the history of dance. Since the 2003/2004 winter semester, she has regularly held teaching positions at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, where she gives lectures on the history of dance. Since the summer semester of 2008, she has chaired the commission for academic master's examinations in department 12, music and dance pedagogy at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg.
Monika Mittendorfer has completed several study visits abroad to deepen her knowledge of the historical dance practice of the Renaissance and the Baroque.
