Ludwig Nussbichler was born in 1963 and, after early instrumental training in guitar and piano, studied French at the University of Salzburg and music education, guitar and composition at the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. He wrote his thesis about the Lyric Suite by Alban Berg. In 1996 he attended the master class in composition at the Summer Academy of the University of Salzburg with Friedrich Cerha. Nussbichler wrote commissioned works for the ORF, Wien modern, the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler Orchestra, the International Mozarteum Foundation, the Musikverein Wien, the Ensemble Kontrapunkte, the Austrian Chamber Symphony Orchestra, the Danube Festival Krems, the Hilliard Ensemble, the Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg and the Duo Patricia Kopatchinskaja, among others Christopher Hinterhuber. His compositions have been performed outside of Austria in Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Japan and the USA, among others.
