Sweet Spot: Portrait of Veronika Mayer
In her work processes, Veronika Mayer orients herself to sound-inherent properties and develops form-giving structures from them. The source material is concrete sounds that are alienated by means of digital tools. She explores minimal changes in sound and textures, allowing the sensation of stretched time to emerge and demanding a willingness to listen as well as openness to details.
In this concert she presents electroacoustic compositions of the last years as well as a live performance that explores the potential of sound transformation through rotating sound movements in space and plays with our perception. Veronika Mayer is a composer, sound artist and laptop musician. In addition to various sound projects, she teaches at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz at the IEM (Institute for Electronic Music and Acoustics) and at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna. She is co-curator of the annual sound art festival Klangmanifeste (www.veronikamayer.com).
