Workshop
Storytelling Workshop for students of the Department of Fine Arts & Design. In cooperation with the Salzburger Kunstverein, the works created in an intensive workshop with the artist will be presented at the finissage of the exhibition Bani Abidi. The workshop is dedicated to methods of observation and storytelling. In the presentation, visitors* can experience these stories.
Bani Abidi is a Pakistani artist working with video, photography and drawing. She studied fine arts at the National College of Arts in Lahore and at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. In her work, she blurs the lines between fact and fiction, illuminating the absurdities of daily life. The scenes she stages are portrayed by anonymous characters struggling to make small gestures of resistance. This generally occurs against a backdrop of state power and nationalism. She believes in the power of laughter and skillfully uses humor in her works.
Her works have been on view internationally for more than a decade: Museum of Contemporary Art (Chicago 2022), Gropius-Bau (Berlin 2019), Lahore Biennial (2018), Kiran Nadar Museum of Art (Delhi 2016), 8th Berlin Biennale (2014), Guggenheim Museum New York (2013), documenta 13 (Kassel, 2012) and many more.
