Venetian polychoralism meets intimate, dramatic monodies, strict polyphonic movement forms alternate with brilliantly virtuosic concerti, forming a feast for ears, soul and spirit.
The psalms and concerti are linked by a reconstructed Vespers liturgy, as it might have sounded in Salzburg Cathedral in 1625. The Regensburger Domspatzen sing the liturgy in a version specially composed for the occasion by Gregorian expert Stefan Engels and conductor Jörn Andresen.
