Iwan Pasuchin

Senior Lecturer in New Media Department of Music Education Salzburg

Iwan Pasuchin teaches at the MediaLab of Mozarteum University Salzburg, which he co-founded in 2001, and has been Professor of Cultural and Media Education at IU International University since 2022. His work brings together media education, artistic and cultural education, and socio-political engagement through research, teaching and creative practice. Alongside his academic appointments, he is active as a guest lecturer and speaker at universities and arts institutions in Austria and Germany.

Pasuchin studied composition, completed a doctorate in education with a second subject in communication studies, and subsequently habilitated in Cultural and Media Education. Since co-founding the MediaLab at the Mozarteum, he has led numerous research projects, including externally funded initiatives. His publications include nearly 50 academic articles, four monographs and two edited volumes.

Alongside his university teaching and research, Pasuchin has led cultural and media education workshops under the title WeTube / Denen zeigen wir's! at schools throughout Austria and in teacher education and professional development. Building on this work, he developed the secondary-school subject Creative Media Design, which he taught from 2011 to 2022. Within this framework, he initiated the research project schnitt # stellen, which received the main prize in the Young Creatives category at the Prix Ars Electronica in 2020.
