Andrea Ostertag studied elementary music and movement education with a focus on dance at the Orff Institute of the Mozarteum University Salzburg. After her diploma in 1988 she taught early elemental music and dance education at the Musikum and dance at the Carl Orff Elementary School in Traunwalchen.

Since 1987 she has been doing workshops for teachers, kindergardeners and adult students, university courses, Orff-Schulwerk societies and other music or dance-specific institutions in Austria, Germany, Taiwan, Spain, Czech Republic, Sweden, Switzerland, France, China, the USA, England, New Zealand, Australia, Poland, Iran, Brazil, Canada, Thailand, Russia and Singapore. In cooperation with Kulturkontakt Österreich, she implements music and dance projects in compulsory schools in Salzburg. She is a trained shiatsu therapist, part of the Clowndoctors and the music cabaret group die muhTanten. For many years she has worked at the Orff Institute in organizing the International Summer Courses.

From 1987 to 2001 she taught international folk dances at the Paris Lodron University in Salzburg and since 1991 she has been a lecturer at the Orff Institute at the Mozarteum University Salzburg, where she teaches advanced studies in music and dance education and elementary music and movement education and also in the organization of the University course is involved. In 2012 she completed her master's degree in music and dance studies.
